Original programming is the most enjoyed content on the Netflix Inc. streaming service, but the service's overall value is still tied to a catalog of varied content.
According to the results from our September survey, Netflix streaming subscribers watch a wide variety of content on the service, with recent movies (72%), prior seasons of network TV series (72%), and original TV programs (71%) being the most common. Fewer subscribers watch older movies (63%) and current-season TV episodes (52%).
In addition to asking what they watched, we also asked what content they enjoyed the most. Original content came out on top, with over a quarter of Netflix subscribers surveyed indicating that original TV programs (27%) were what they enjoyed the most on the service. Prior seasons of network TV series were selected by 22%. A sizable group of respondents (18%) indicated that there is no specific set of video programs they enjoyed most.
Netflix Streaming subscribers expect a varied set of content on the service, and while original content may be an important part of the varied content library, it is not the only part subscribers care about.
